Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a former physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

Breakdown of Offences

Prosecutors outline the 45 charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
