Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
The Gunners' 10-game victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats before the international break, but can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.
For the twelfth round, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
Murs' new record, the new release, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Family Experiences
Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful singer and has been a featured player of several charity football matches over time - but he is not planning a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a benefit game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!
"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or son decides to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their coach.
"I will not push football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football team," he said.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a period too.
"My father did it with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our side for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.
I still think this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole home losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.
The expert's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their past two games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear competitive again.
West Ham's sole away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their boss Nuno was still that team's coach.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their run under their manager, or the home side bouncing back?
I will choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.
Sutton's prediction: 2-0
The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2
AI's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a few people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four games.
My son advised me to select Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are always decent at home. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be quite tight. 1-1
AI's prediction: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.
They have got lots of talent in their squad but it still feels like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.
As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.
Their performance in the two-all tie with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice would be to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to continue going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently enjoy to prove me wrong.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely desperate for a good outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three points.
Sutton's forecast: 1-0
The guest's choice: I know the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad streak... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a hard fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but could they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
